Police have apprehended two individuals, a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, on charges of perjury and conspiracy to commit kidnapping, following the unraveling of a fabricated crime report.

The investigation was launched after the female suspect initially reported a house robbery and the kidnapping of her boyfriend to the Norkem Park police on Friday, 12 September 2025.

However, upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the report was a deliberate deception. It was established that the woman had allegedly colluded with four male accomplices, including the 28-year-old now in custody, to stage the kidnapping of her own boyfriend. The motive was to rob the victim by forcing him to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash from his bank account.

As a result, the 28-year-old male suspect was arrested on charges of house robbery and kidnapping. The woman, whose false report initiated the police response, was taken into custody for perjury and conspiracy to kidnap.

The two arrested suspects are scheduled to make their first appearance at the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, 15 September 2025. Police are continuing their search for the remaining four accomplices.
