Two women were taken into custody on Saturday, 30 August 2025, following a successful intelligence-driven operation by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit in the Chris Hani area of Kopanong.

According to police reports, members of the unit received a credible tip-off at approximately 18:40 regarding a residence suspected of being used for drug dealing activities. Police promptly responded to the given address.

Upon arrival, officers located two women inside the premises. As police entered, one of the suspects was observed attempting to move towards the living room. An officer followed the individual and conducted a search of the area.

The search led to the discovery of 55 small ziplock bags containing crystal methamphetamine, found on a table within the living room. An undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug sales, was also found and seized at the scene.

The substances and money were confiscated as evidence. The two suspects, aged 28 and 19, were subsequently placed under arrest on charges of dealing in drugs.

The women are expected to be formally charged and are scheduled to appear before a local magistrate’s court in the near future.
