In a successful joint operation, members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Sekhukhuza Kruger National Park (KNP) officials arrested three suspects for possession of game in the Mbaula Village area on Wednesday.
The operation, which took place on August 27, 2025, was initiated after the team received credible information about suspected poachers operating in the vicinity. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, authorities followed the leads which led them to the suspects at separate locations within the village.
Upon apprehension, police recovered fresh crocodile skin and a dead vulture in the suspects’ possession. The suspects subsequently led the team to a site inside a local river, where investigators discovered the full carcass of a crocodile that had been skinned.
The three male suspects, aged between 29 and 38, were taken into custody. They are scheduled to make their first appearance before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Friday, August 29, 2025, to face charges of possession of game.
