A 55-year-old man from Sikhulu locality in the Mantusini Administrative Area has been arrested for allegedly raping his 53-year-old neighbour, who lives with a mental illness.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 12 August 2025, at approximately 00:15, when the victim was asleep in her home. The suspect allegedly broke in and assaulted her. A rape case was promptly opened at the Lusikisiki Police Station following the report.
The matter has been referred to the specialised Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for further forensic investigation to gather conclusive evidence linking the suspect to the crime.
The arrested man is expected to appear before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of rape.
