Police in Malamulele have arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of murdering his 35-year-old wife, whose lifeless body was discovered at her residence on Friday evening, 08 August 2025.

The gruesome discovery was made at approximately 22:30 after authorities were called to the scene in Malamulele Section D. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on her upper body. Emergency medical personnel confirmed her death at the scene.

Distress Call Leads to Tragic Discovery

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim had called her younger sister earlier that evening, screaming for help. The sister, accompanied by another person, rushed to the address. Upon arrival, they noticed smoke coming from the house. After forcing the door open, they found the victim’s lifeless body on the floor, bleeding, with her legs partially burned.

Authorities revealed that the woman had just returned from Durban, where she had been on a school trip with learners, before the fatal attack occurred.

Suspect Flees, Crashes, and is Arrested

The alleged suspect fled the scene at high speed but later collided with a bus in the Watervaal policing area. He then abandoned the vehicle and escaped using another car to Mabambe village in Malamulele, where he was eventually apprehended by police.

The suspect is set to appear before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 August 2025, facing a charge of murder.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
