Selby George (35), already serving two life sentences for the brutal rape and murder of 21-year-old Thobeka Bosman in Marydale, has been handed further prison terms for related crimes.
The Kimberley High Court sentenced George to an additional seven (7) years for attempted rape and one (1) year for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) in a separate incident.
Details of the Additional Charges
The charges stem from an attack on 02 March 2019 at approximately 22:00, when George attempted to rape a 37-year-old woman and violently assaulted her at a residence in Marydale. A female friend of the victim managed to escape and alerted authorities. Police responded swiftly, arresting George at the scene.
The sentences, handed down on 01 August 2025, will run concurrently with his existing life terms.
Acquittal in Separate Case
In a separate matter, George was acquitted of rape and assault charges involving a 36-year-old woman in Marydale on 22 December 2018. All victims in these cases were known to the accused.
