The Tactical Response Team (TRT) arrested a 35-year-old foreign national on Wednesday, 03 June 2026, at approximately 08:30, following a high-density operation targeting alleged drug dealing in Waterloo Street, Kimberley.

Acting on information received from the community regarding a foreign national allegedly selling drugs in the area, TRT members operationalised the intelligence and executed a search of the identified premises. During the search, officers recovered plastic bags containing suspected tik (methamphetamine) and cat (Catha edulis), along with a weighing scale concealed beneath a refrigerator.

A substantial amount of cash, believed to be proceeds from illicit drug sales, was also located and confiscated. The total estimated street value of the seized narcotics is sixteen thousand rand (R16,000.00).

The suspect was taken into custody on charges related to the alleged dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear in court in due course.

In a statement following the operation, the South African Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug-related crime within the Frances Baard District. Authorities extended their gratitude to community members for providing the valuable information that facilitated the arrest and the removal of illegal substances from local streets.

Police continue to urge residents to share information regarding criminal activity through official channels to support ongoing law enforcement efforts.
