The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the arrest of a 37-year-old woman in connection with the murder of an off-duty police officer and the alleged obstruction of justice. The incident occurred on the evening of 15 June 2025 in Slastsha, Khwenxurha.

According to police reports, the 50-year-old victim and his girlfriend, the now-detained suspect, were drinking at her homestead when a heated argument broke out. The dispute arose after the deceased informed her of his intention to leave for another part of the village. The suspect reportedly opposed his plans, accusing him of visiting another girlfriend.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly became enraged after being insulted and struck the victim multiple times on the head with a knobkerrie, leaving him unconscious.

The following morning (16 June 2025), the suspect surrendered herself to the police, claiming that she had engaged in a physical altercation with the deceased the previous night and later discovered him unresponsive.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found the victim lying on his back with two head wounds—one on the front and another on the back—as well as bruising on his right arm.

The suspect has been charged with murder and Defeating the Ends of Justice, as authorities believe she tampered with evidence following the incident. The alleged murder weapon, the knobkerrie, has been seized for forensic analysis.

The case remains under investigation as SAPS continues to gather further evidence.
