The Polokwane High Court on Friday, 06 June 2025, handed down two life sentences and an additional eight-year imprisonment term to 57-year-old Komane Daniel for the brutal 2019 murders of two men in Ga-Makata.
The crimes occurred on 21 October 2019 in the Molepo area, within the Mankweng policing precinct, where the bodies of 56-year-old Mokgohloa Daniel and 57-year-old Mashapa Mack were discovered murdered and burned.
Following the grim discovery, a murder case was opened and assigned to Detective Sergeant Zacharia Mangena. Through meticulous investigative work, Mangena secured the arrest of Komane Daniel and five other suspects. All six were granted bail of R3,000 each before the case was transferred to the Polokwane High Court for trial.
After a thorough legal process, the court found Komane Daniel guilty beyond a reasonable doubt on two counts of murder and two counts of assault. He received two life terms for the murders and an additional eight years for the assaults.
In a further ruling, the court declared Daniel unfit to possess a firearm.
