A 26-year-old woman is set to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court tomorrow following her arrest for the alleged stabbing of her 29-year-old boyfriend in Thabong over the weekend.

The Thabong Police have opened an attempted murder case after the incident, which occurred on Sunday, 1 June 2025, at around 17:15. Preliminary reports indicate that the male victim was at his residence when his girlfriend arrived with her family. A verbal argument reportedly broke out after the victim asked for money to travel to Botshabelo, which was refused.

The situation escalated into a physical altercation, during which the victim allegedly slapped the suspect multiple times. It is further alleged that the woman then took a knife and stabbed the man in the left side of his chest.

The victim received medical treatment for his injuries, while the suspect was arrested at the scene. She has been charged and will make her first court appearance tomorrow.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
