The Vodacom Bulls are through to the United Rugby Championship (URC) semi-finals after a nail-biting 42-33 victory over a determined Edinburgh side at a packed Loftus Versfeld.
In a match that had fans on the edge of their seats, the Bulls exploded in the second half with three quick tries to seize control, only to endure a nerve-wracking final quarter as the Scottish side launched a furious comeback.
After a sluggish first half, the Bulls found their rhythm early after the break, crossing the line six times in total to delight the 20,000-strong crowd. But Edinburgh refused to roll over, scoring two late tries to cut the deficit to just six points with 15 minutes remaining.
The visitors, feeding off momentum at altitude, threw everything at the Bulls in the dying stages. However, a heroic defensive effort from the hosts—repelling wave after wave of attack—sealed their place in the final four and ensured a home semi-final.
The Bulls will await the winner of Sharks vs. Munster, with Loftus set to host another blockbuster playoff clash next weekend.
