The installation of progress signboards for the MyCiTi bus project along AZ Berman Drive has stirred mixed reactions among residents. The project, now 31% complete, is set to introduce dedicated bus lanes, pedestrian walkways, and cycle paths by January 2027.
While Ward 76 Councillor Avron Plaatjies welcomed recent milestones, including the reopening of Highlands Drive, some commuters remain frustrated. Byron Dillars, a regular Lentegeur commuter, reported delays of up to 15 minutes due to roadworks.
The City has assured residents that one lane will remain open in each direction and that construction will avoid peak traffic where possible. Officials urge patience, emphasizing long-term benefits for public transport.
