
A visionary proposal to convert the city’s abandoned foreshore freeway into a 6 km elevated rail line has been unveiled. Engineer Gareth Ramsey’s plan suggests linking Woodstock to Sea Point in under 10 minutes, integrating with PRASA’s network.
The project aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve mobility, and provide affordable transit to key areas like the Waterfront and Cape Town Stadium. However, city officials remain focused on expanding the MyCiTi bus system, with over R5 billion already committed to new routes.
