Drug Bust in Bellville
On Thursday, 15 May 2025, at approximately 13:15, members of the Maitland Flying Squad acted on intelligence regarding a suspicious Volkswagen Polo suspected of transporting drugs. The vehicle was intercepted at the intersection of Charl Cronje and Mispel Streets in Bellville. Upon searching the car, officers discovered a blue plastic bag containing cocaine on the front passenger seat. A 35-year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested for dealing in drugs.
Firearm Recovery in Wallacedene
In a separate operation on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, at around 09:00, police received a tip-off about a firearm stored at a residence on Mlonzi Street, Wallacedene. Officers conducted a search of the premises and located one 9mm round of ammunition beneath a bed. A subsequent search of a Hyundai vehicle parked in the yard led to the discovery of a black Taurus Brazil revolver (without a serial number) concealed under the driver’s seat. An adult male suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm, and the vehicle was seized as evidence.
Court Appearances
Both suspects are expected to appear before the Bellville and Bluedowns Magistrates’ Courts once formally charged.
