While patrolling along Monty Naicker Road towards the ICC, DMPS officers observed a vehicle disregard a red traffic light. Upon activating blue lights and sirens to stop the vehicle, the driver pointed a firearm at the officers.
A call for assistance was immediately made over the radio, and officers maintained a running commentary while following the suspect vehicle. With coordinated efforts, the vehicle was intercepted at the intersection of NMR Avenue and Jeff Taylor Crescent.
The suspects were safely apprehended with the support of additional members on the scene. The situation was handled professionally, and the firearm has been secured for further investigation….
