A 52-year-old businessman was seriously injured in a shooting incident in the Verulam CBD – KZN this afternoon (Tuesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 19:56 and found the male in his white Nissan NP200 bakkie. He was shot in his abdomen and his right forearm.
It was alleged that the bar owner and an employee were in the process of driving out of the parking area after closing up for the evening. Two (2) men approached the vehicle and opened fire on the driver.
The suspects stole a Dell laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled in a white VW Polo. Paramedics from a private ambulance service stabilised the injured male before transporting to a medical facility. Three (3) spent 9mm cartridges were recovered.
The employee was not injured….
