The Durban Metro Police Service Drug Team recently conducted an undercover operation in Chatsworth, Heavenside, a known hotspot for drug activity. During the operation, officers’ unmarked vehicle was blocked by a silver Ford Ranger occupied by two males, who confronted the officers without identifying themselves.
Further investigation revealed that the driver, a security officer, lacked valid permits for the rifle and handgun found in his possession. The security officer and his colleague were unable to provide a reasonable explanation for their actions.

• Unlawful Possession of Two Firearms
• Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
Seized Firearms and Ammunition
• 9mm Taurus G3 handgun
• Diplopoint Rifle (DM4)
• 91 rounds of live ammunition
Metro Police Spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu said “Durban Metro Police remains committed to ensuring that all individuals, including those in the security sector, adhere to the laws governing firearm possession, this incident highlights the importance of vigilance and thorough inspections to maintain public safety.”
Further investigations are underway, and the suspects are in custody pending further legal proceedings…
