KwaZulu-Natal: Yesterday, 09 October 2016 at about 14:00, K9 unit members were conducting their crime prevention duties around Umlazi area when they saw a suspicious-looking Toyota Etios motor vehicle with four occupants at Sinandi Road, P section in Umlazi. The members stopped the said vehicle and it was searched. Two unlicensed firearms and ammunition were found in the vehicle.
The firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were used in any other crimes in the province. All arrested suspects were charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. It is suspected that the suspects were on their way to commit crime. One of the arrested suspect is linked to other robbery cases around Durban. They will appear in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court today.
