On Wednesday morning a protest took place in Mount Mariah near Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal.
The protesters are burning tyres and setting vehicles alight on the road.
Motorists are urged to take extra precautions or to take alternative routes.
Police are currently monitoring the situation in Phoenix.
