The swift response by members of the Philippi Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in the Jim se Bos informal settlement on the night of 21 October 2021.
Police members received information that a firearm is at a shack and responded thereto. The shack was searched and a 9mm luger pistol with ammunition was found.
The same members arrested a 28-year-old suspect for the possession of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R5000-00 in the early hours of 22 October 2021.
Once charged the suspects will make court appearances at Athlone Magistrate’s court on Monday 25 October 2021.
