Lerato Ikutlweng (36) and Denis Mali Ntshole (40) were sentenced on Friday 19 February 2021, before the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Mahikeng for theft.

The accused reportedly transferred maintenance funds from the Department into their personal bank accounts.

The matter was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation, where a probe into the matter resulted in the two accused being summoned to court. They subsequently pleaded guilty to theft.

Ikutlweng was sentenced to 5 years wholly suspended for a period of 5 years on condition that she repay approximately R 237 000-00 which she stole, in monthly installments of R4 000-00 until the balance is paid in full.

The court also ordered the confiscation of her pension interest of approximately R18 000-00.

Meanwhile, Ntshole was sentenced to 2 years wholly suspended for 5 years on condition that he repay the approximate amount of R38 000-00 in installments of R627-00 until the balance is also paid in full.
