The relentless actions by Sgt Ben Eiman and Const Beatrice Canchibatho continues to deliver successes after two males were arrested on 31 December 2020 at 22:55 in Heide street in Onderwysers Park in Kathu while conducting COVID-19 crime prevention duties.

The first suspect aged 31 was stopped and searched and found in possession of housebreaking implements and dangerous weapons.

While the second suspect aged 26 was found in possession of a suspected stolen bicycle. The two members also found 60 metres of copper cable abandoned in the veld with an estimated value of R9000-00.

On 1 January 2021 at 18:50, the same two members continued their duties and while conducting patrols they received a request from a member of Rhino Security in Kathu to assist with information regarding possible stolen goods.

The members followed up on information and apprehended a 32-year-old male suspect in Karee Avenue who was found in possession of various suspected stolen items. It was later discovered that a house was allegedly broken into earlier today in Nieshout street in Kathu.

Various items including a laptop, sports shoes, bank cards, cables and a firearm was found in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property valued at approximately R150 000 and illegal possession of a firearm.

All three suspects will soon appear in the Kathu Magistrates’ court.

The Acting District Commander, Brig Francis Hender commended Sgt Eiman and Const Canchibatho for their unabated efforts in squeezing the space for criminals to operate. He also issued a stern warning to residents that alert level 3 Regulations will be vigorously enforced and those transgressing will deal with the full might of the law.
