A couple survived a farm attack on their smallholding in the Weltevreden area, outside of Nelspruit, in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa on Sunday morning 31 May 2020. Wim Struyf (68) and his wife Martie (65) were ambushed by two attackers who had waited for them as they left the house.
One attacker was armed with a knife and the other with a firearm. The couple fought back throughout the ordeal and Wim even grabbed a baseball bat to protect themselves from the onslaught. During the assault Martie managed to activate the alarm and this, along with her husbands defence, caused the attackers to flee with R1000 that they robbed from him.
There is no other information available at this stage. No arrests have been made.
