
NGODWANA, MPUMALANGA — A tragic crash involving a minibus taxi and a truck on the N4 toll road in Mpumalanga has claimed eight lives, prompting the immediate closure of the major route.
The severe incident occurred between the towns of Ngodwana and Waterval Onder. Visuals from the aftermath reveal extensive wreckage at the site, underscoring the devastating nature of the high-speed impact.
Through a spokesperson, the provincial Community, Safety, Security and Liaison Department confirmed that emergency services personnel have been dispatched and are actively on the scene managing the aftermath of the wreck. First responders are currently working to secure the area and attend to the situation.
Authorities have shut down the highway in both directions to facilitate the work of emergency teams and crash investigators. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear at this stage, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes while the investigation continues.
