At 14:30 on Saturday afternoon, 8 March 2020, Netcare 911 responded to reports of an assault at a golf course in Margate on the KZN South Coast. Reports from the scene indicate that an elderly male believed to be of German nationality visiting South Africa had sustained severe head trauma after being assaulted by unknown persons while playing golf.
Medics assessed the man who was found unresponsive on the floor. The patient was found to have no signs of life and sadly declared deceased on the scene.
Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the Margate SAPS who were on scene.
