A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left seriously injured on the morning of 1 July 2019, when he was shot during an armed robbery at the Stateway and Mooi Street intersection in Welkom CBD.
ER24 personnel, arrived on the scene at 09:48 to find the local authorities already in attendance. A man was found lying on the pavement clutching his chest. Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest and was in a serious condition.
The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a nearby private hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
