The Pietermaritzburg Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 46 year old father to life imprisonment for raping his daughter.
The 7 year old victim was residing with her father at Haza location, Taylors halt. At that time the accused was consistently raping the victim from 2005 until 2009 when she moved away to live with her mother.
The accused threatened to assault the victim is she tell anyone, however the victim reported the matter to a social worker.
A case of rape was opened at Taylors Halt Police station and the docket was transferred to Plessislaer Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for investigation. The father was subsequently arrested and appeared in court on several occasion until he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
