Fuel prices may continue to rise

Die Vryburger

Motorists woke up this morning to record high fuel prices, while the Rand once again fell sharply against the Dollar.

From midnight, petrol increased by 49 cents per liter and by diesel 60 cents.

Even the euphoria surrounding Cyril Ramaphosa as a substitute for Jacob Zuma could not stop the rand’s fall, and on the other hand, even all left wing attacks against US president Donald Trump can not stop the dollar steadily strengthening.

Currently the rand is trading at R12,67 against the Dollar. So called assurances that the rand is weaker just because the dollar is stronger is also untrue as the rand has weakened against the euro and the British pound.

Although the international oil price has fallen slightly, a further fuel price rise is not ruled out.
