Members of Reaction Unit South Africa are searching for an Indian male and three African male suspects wanted for a house robbery in Riet River, Verulam.
At approx 14:57 a member of the public stopped a Reaction Officer in the Verulam CBD requesting assistance after he received a call from his 63 year old mother informing him of a robbery at their Neptune Drive home. The Reaction Officer immediately circulated the information and several Officers converged on the residence.
Upon arrival it was established that four suspects approached the home with an attached building that operates a vegetable packing business. The suspect accosted a granny and her 7 year old grandson. Whilst holding them at gunpoint a suspect that was partially clad in a balaclava removed a safe containing several pieces of 18 carat jewelry and an undisclosed amount of money.
A neighbour who noticed the suspicious activity exited her home to find an Indian male seated in a grey Izuzu double cab bakkie. The vehicle which had no registration plates was backed up into the yard and left when the suspects loaded the safe.
The woman and the child were not injured.
According to the resident, his home has been targeted by criminals in recent weeks. His vehicle and family temple had been broken into in separate incidents.
