World famous SA photographer David Goldblatt robbed in Durban

WORLD famous South African photographer David Goldblatt and documentary film-maker Cliff Bestall were assaulted and robbed while filming the elephant sculptures by Andries Botha at Warwick Junction yesterday morning.

David Goldblatt (83) was injured during the incident and is currently ­recovering in hospital. Photographic and film equipment was stolen as well as cellphones.

Head of international relations for the municipality, Eric Apelgren, said the men were attacked by three men yesterday morning. “Cliff was filming and David photographing the sculptures when they were targeted.

“There was concern because he [David] had been bitten on the hand after he refused to let go of the camera.”

Apelgren said a case was opened with police and an appeal was being made for the return of the cameras…
