WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — More than 100 people were displaced and two White Settlement police officers were taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation following a fire at the Studio 6 motel on Thursday evening, officials said.

The blaze broke out at the motel on West Freeway just around 5:00 p.m. TXDOT cameras captured emergency crews responding to the scene. White Settlement police officers were actively conducting rescues and evacuations of rooms when they were overcome by smoke.

According to officials, the two officers suffered smoke inhalation while helping to clear residents from the affected areas. They were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The fire heavily damaged at least two third-floor units, which were fully engulfed when crews arrived. One resident was hospitalized with minor burns, while several others received on-scene treatment for smoke inhalation or minor injuries and were later released.

White Settlement Fire Department personnel responded quickly and worked alongside police to bring the fire under control. No fatalities were reported.

Officials have not yet released details on the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation. Displaced residents are being assisted with temporary housing arrangements.

The incident highlights the risks first responders face during emergency evacuations, with the officers prioritizing the safety of motel guests despite the hazardous conditions.
