DALLAS, Texas — A 22-year-old driver is facing multiple charges after a fiery early-morning crash in southeast Dallas claimed the lives of two people, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The incident occurred overnight Sunday at the intersection of Military Parkway and Jim Miller Road. Police said a truck driven by Isaac Chacon blew through a red light and slammed into at least two other vehicles.

Both occupants of the struck vehicle died as a result of the collision — one at the scene and the other after being transported to a hospital, authorities reported.

Witnesses shared video and images of the wreckage with local news outlets. They described how Chacon attempted to flee the scene but was held down by bystanders until police arrived and took him into custody.

Residents in the area expressed sorrow and frustration over the tragedy, describing it as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving.

“It got me sad because the two people were dead and then… that’s not fair like that,” one witness said. “Because they [didn’t] deserve it. There is no joke.”

Another added: “It’s not only your life, it’s many people’s lives on the road. Like two people… just died just like that because somebody is just drinking. That’s crazy.”

Dallas Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Isaac Chacon. He has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of collision involving death.

Authorities believe the crash was caused by an intoxicated driver, though formal results of any sobriety testing have not been publicly detailed beyond the charges filed.
