The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) deserves praise for refusing to accept Justice Department pressure to end its criminal probes into Hillary Clinton’s activities as secretary of state, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told a campaign rally in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
“[The FBI] are…conducting a second criminal investigation into Hillary’s pay-for-play at the State Department,” Trump stated on Friday. “I salute the FBI for taking this step.”
The FBI found 650,000 previously unsuspected emails, many of related to Clinton, on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin. Analysts have said they expect Abedin to be Clinton’s White House chief of staff if she is elected the next president of the United States.
On October 27, FBI Director James Comey announced the reopening of the investigation into Clinton’s possible abuse of emails during her tenue as US secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.
Trump noted the US Congress has also been informed that a second probe is investigating possibilities of corruption at the Clinton Foundation.
“Last night [Thursday] it was confirmed the 650,000 include brand new emails not seen by authorities,” Trump said.
Media reports have also revealed that the political leadership at the Department of Justice was trying as hard as it could to shut down the FBI investigations, Trump added.
