Terrorists attack police in Jammu state, India
Stop terrorism.

At least three militants attacked the police forces on the outskirts of the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, injuring five policemen, local media reported.

According to The Times of India, the attack on the Central Reserve Police Force personnel occurred on Monday morning, as India celebrates the Independence Day.

The attacks coincided with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s congratulatory speech to the public in New Delhi.

The media added that the exchange of fire continues, as security forces have cordoned off the area.

On August 9, three Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers were killed and several injured during an attack in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The region of Kashmir has been disputed by India and Pakistan since the dissolution of British India and the establishment of the two states in 1947. Some local residents, especially those residing in the Kashmir Valley, call for greater autonomy or even independence from India.
