DeKALB COUNTY, Georgia — Authorities in DeKalb County are seeking information on a person who shot an individual brandishing a machete at a local gas station Monday night, then departed the scene before officers arrived.

Police spokespersons said the confrontation unfolded at a fueling station along South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road. Surveillance footage obtained by investigators captures a man carrying a machete while moving around the property. The video reportedly shows the individual beginning to strike a stationary vehicle with the blade.

According to accounts provided to law enforcement, a second individual intervened during the incident and discharged a firearm at the man with the machete. Police spokespersons confirmed the shooter then entered a vehicle and left the location prior to the arrival of first responders.

Emergency personnel transported the injured man to an area medical facility. Police spokespersons indicated his condition is listed as stable.
