Hollywood icon and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger hit the nail on the head during a Tuesday appearance on The View after urging immigrants in the U.S. to “behave” and follow the law.

Schwarzenegger, an Austrian-born immigrant who became a U.S. citizen in 1983, was asked by co-host Joy Behar about recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Rather than criticizing the agency, the Terminator star emphasized that immigrants should respect American laws.

“I just think the world of the great history that we have with immigrants in America,” Schwarzenegger said. “But the key thing is that we’ve got to do things legal. That is the important thing.”

He added, “When you come to America, you’re a guest, and you have to behave like a guest.” The actor compared immigrants to houseguests, saying they should avoid crime and “do everything that is the right thing to do.”

Trump’s Deportation Push Adds Fuel to the Fire

The discussion on The View comes as former President Donald Trump has ordered federal authorities to increase deportations in Democratic-led “sanctuary cities” like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Trump, who has made immigration a central issue in his 2024 campaign, claimed on Truth Social that these cities harbor “millions upon millions of illegal aliens.”

Political analyst Kosha Patel, also appearing on The View, noted that public sentiment has shifted, with even some Democrats supporting stricter immigration enforcement. “The public support is on Trump’s side,” she said, though she acknowledged logistical challenges due to protests and legal obstacles.

Supportive Reactions Online

Schwarzenegger’s comments quickly went viral, drawing support.

Many agreed with his message. “Finally, someone says it—respect the country that takes you in,” wrote one social media user.
