US president-elect Donald Trump has confirmed that Ford has no plans of shifting production to Mexico.
“Just got a call from my friend Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, who advised me that he will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky – no Mexico,” Trump said on Twitter, adding in a later post “I worked hard with Bill Ford to keep the Lincoln plant in Kentucky. I owed it to the great State of Kentucky for their confidence in me!”
In a Thursday statement, released after Trump’s tweet, the company said that it was not going to move the production of the MKC model from Kentucky to Mexico.
Last year, Ford intended to move the production away from Louisville. Trump has criticized the company’s plans to shift some production to Mexico. However, the company never announced plans to relocate the entire Kentucky plant.
