The quiet British city of Epping was thrown into turmoil as thousands of outraged residents flooded the streets, demanding government action on illegal immigration following shocking allegations of sexual assault involving a migrant.
The protest erupted after 38-year-old Ethiopian national was charged with three counts of sexual assault against two girls, aged 14 and 16. He obviously denies the allegations and is reportedly among asylum seekers housed at the Bell Asylum Hotel—a temporary accommodation that has become a flashpoint for local anger.
Chanting “Save our kids” and “Send them home,” demonstrators gathered outside the hotel, voicing fears over rising crime and safety threats. Many protesters, including parents and local women, expressed frustration over what they see as inadequate government oversight and lax border controls.
“Residents Need to Be Safe in Their Own Town”
One local resident questioned whether authorities had conducted proper risk assessments before housing migrants near a school. “There have been allegations of not only sexual assault… but also theft, public drunkenness, and harassment,” they said. “School children must be safe going to and from school.”
GB News commentator Lee Harris praised the demonstrators, calling the protest “absolutely astonishing” and urging more public resistance. “Worried parents and locals are not going to give up until the government closes this hotel,” he said.
Police Under Fire for “Protecting Migrants Over Locals”
Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, a heavy police presence drew backlash, with critics accusing officers of prioritizing the safety of asylum seekers over residents. Drone footage showed officers escorting migrants through the crowd, sparking outrage online.
“If only they put as much effort into protecting our borders,” one commentator remarked. Another added: “It often takes days for police to respond to crimes, but if you raise concerns about protecting children, they’ll protect the predators instead.”
Several protesters were arrested, while some media outlets labeled demonstrators as “far-right extremists”—a claim strongly denied by attendees. “We’re moms, sisters, aunties—parents of the area,” one woman emphasized. “We’re just here to support our community.”
Growing Tensions Over Migration Policy
The protest highlights deepening tensions in the UK over immigration and asylum policies. With locals vowing to continue demonstrations until the hotel is shut down, the government faces mounting pressure to address both border security and community safety concerns.
As Epping residents demand answers, one message rings clear: “We will not stay silent while our children are at risk.”
