San Antonio, Texas — Authorities in San Antonio are investigating a violent road rage incident that left an uninvolved bystander wounded Thursday afternoon after gunfire erupted between two vehicles.

Police were called to the scene near O’Connor Road and Misty Run Drive around 2:30 p.m. following reports of an active shooting. Investigators believe the confrontation began near Judson and Loop 1604, where occupants of two vehicles may have exchanged shots while driving.

The victim, described as a male in his late teens or early 20s, was discovered in a parking lot at the intersection of O’Connor and Stahl roads. According to police, he was not involved in the altercation and appears to have been struck by chance. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made so far, and officials have not yet released any descriptions of the suspect vehicles. Detectives remain on the scene, collecting witness statements and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses in an effort to reconstruct the chaotic sequence of events.

The investigation spans multiple locations, including a nearby field, which has added complexity to the case and left officers working to determine exactly how the incident unfolded. Yellow police markers were not visible at the primary location due to the ongoing and fluid nature of the investigation.

The shooting occurred just across the street from Madison High School. Police confirmed that no students or staff were involved, and the school was never placed on lockdown or considered to be in danger.

The case remains under active investigation.
