Kazan Helicopters obtained an approval of the major modification for the extension of service life of Ansat assemblies

The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) issued to Kazan Helicopters of Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) an approval of the major modification for the extension of the service life of a number of assemblies on Ansat helicopter.

The major modification involves extension of assigned service life of a number of helicopter assemblies and systems, which makes Ansat more attractive for operators and potential customers. The changes had a positive impact on the operational characteristics of the helicopter: the cost of a flight hour reduced due to the increase of assembly replacement frequency.

It became possible due to a number of bench tests of assemblies at the facilities of Kazan Helicopters, in the laboratory of KNRTU-KAI, as well as SIA AVIATEST (Latvia). In addition to bench tests, flight tests aimed at identifying the loads in critical parts and assemblies of the helicopter were carried out on two prototypes, PT-07 and PT-08, at the flight and test facilities of Kazan Helicopters from February to April 2018.

“Economic efficiency is one of the key advantages of Ansat, and the modifications approved by Rosaviatsiya are aimed at making this helicopter the leader in its class. Already now in terms of performance and operation cost Ansat can adequately compete with a foreign analogue, but we see several areas for further development and will continue this work,” – noted Andrey Boginskiy, Director General of Russian Helicopters Holding Company.

Please, be reminded that in December 2014 the approval was obtained for the major modification of Ansat helicopter with hydromechanical control system ensuring passenger transportation on this type of aircraft. In May 2015 the approval was obtained for the major modification of Ansat helicopter with a medical module. In December 2015 VIP version of the helicopter was certified. In December 2016 the activities aimed at increasing the take-off weight up to 3600 kg were completed and the approval of the major modification was obtained. Also, in 2016 the approval of the major modification was obtained from the Ministry of Transportation of Russia and the Federal Air Transport Agency for the modification of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and Flight Manual.

Ansat is a light twin-engine utility helicopter serially produced at Kazan Helicopters. The helicopter can attain a top speed of up to 275 km/h and perform flights for the ranges of more than 500 km. In May 2015 the helicopter modification with a medical module passed certification. The modification complies with all the international air medical standards and allows supporting patient’s vital function during transportation.
