The Minister of Mineral Resources, Mosebenzi Zwane, may be in trouble about an unexplained trip to India paid by the Gupta brothers.

Apparently the trip, during 2012, followed after Zwane pressed the Free State government to “give” a 4 400 hectare farm to the Estina company as well as funding of R114 million.

This trip has never been declared by Zwane in accordance with the Ethics Act of the Executive Members, and thus he is guilty of violations of the law.

Meanwhile, there is wind blowing over his controversial new mining charter. Mining shares tumbled after the announcement of the charter and led to billions of losses. Even the ANC wants to convene a meeting with Zwane because they are dissatisfied with the charter.

A black woman, Daphne Mashile-Nkosi, who has an active feature in the mining industry is demanding Zwane’s resignation because he did not consult on the bill and showed no respect for anyone or anything except himself.
