Woman stabbed and hit with knobkierie during farm attack

A woman from Thohoyandou in Limpopo, South Africa was attacked by robbers, beaten and dragged into the field in broad daylight at her house on a smallholding.

Wessel Basson, head of activism at Front National, told Maroela Media that Trish Ehlers (29) was attacked on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, around 13:00 by robbers at her home.

Her husband, Chris, was not at home at the time of the incident. “The attackers stabbed Trish with a knife and a hit her with a knobkierie on the head. She sustained two stab wounds in her hands as she tried to fend off the attack,” said Basson.
The robbers then allegedly tied her and dragged her in the field next to the house. They stole a laptop, a cell phone, a wallet and two guns and fled.

Col. Ronel Otto, police spokesperson, confirmed to Maroela Media that Ehlers was attacked, but could not confirm that she had been assaulted. “I can confirm that items from the house were stolen and a case of burglary is investigated,” she said.

According to Basson, Ehlers is recovering at home, but she is traumatized. The Ehlers-couple farms with Brahman stud cattle.
