A 32-year-old woman was killed this morning after she was mauled by three dogs at a residence on Braithwaite Road in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics, along with SAPS Search and Rescue, arrived at the residence shortly before 11:00 on April 25, 2016
Emergency personnel were unable to approach the woman, as three dogs stood next to her body.
Efforts were made in removing the dogs as well as to chase them away. Unfortunately, all the efforts proved unsuccessful and two of the three dogs had to put down by the Police. The third animal fled shortly after.
Paramedics climbed over the fence and immediately assessed the woman. Unfortunately, she had already succumbed to her multiple fatal injuries.
Nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene.
It is unknown as what caused the dogs to attack the woman but authorities were on scene for further investigations.
