A woman (20) was attacked by two men armed with knives at the Mzimayi bridge in Hibberdene on Tuesday evening this week. The woman and her family were walking home form the beach when the incident occurred.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said one of the men held a knife to the woman’s ribs before grabbing her backpack and slicing it open. The second man held a knife to her face.
Lt-Col Wiid said the woman’s mother sprang to her daughter’s defence and managed to hit one man. The victim’s uncle hit the other with a stick.
The men fled without taking any property. Police have opened an attempted robbery case.
