The state is about to create 5,000 jobs in the health sector. It follows Cyril Ramaphosa’s ‘health indaba’ regarding the country’s health services crisis. According to Aaron Motsoaledi, it is at present all they can afford even though more staff are actually needed.
New beds and linen will also be purchased. Medical experts believe it can help to counter the crisis, but where the state is going to get pharmacists, radiographers, specialists, psychologists and other advanced staff is an open question.
Experts believe the government will probably approach Cuba again to send doctors, or to get blacks out of the country for training there.
