Everyone knows it is not true that whites stole land. The EFF will not manage to force landowners off their land. It is like throwing burning matches into the grass with such statements, and the grass will burn, FF Plus leader Dr. Pieter Groenewald said during a parliamentary discussion on land issues.
He said the EFF do not want sensitivity to arise when they say whites stole land, yet they become unhappy if they are caught out in a lie. He said it was a dangerous statement to make as South Africa is a constitutional democracy where no one had stolen land. The legal landowners in South Africa paid for it, and they worked for it.
“It should be realized that the myth about ‘land will automatically bring wealth’ is only that a legend. If you have land a person would have to work extremely hard to get rich and I am not sure that anyone who is so desperate for land is willing to work hard.”
Now the minister (Gugile Nkwinti) is also trying to compete with the EFF by uttering rhetoric statements.
Dr. Groenewald is currently working on submitting a complaint against Julius Malema with the parliament’s ethics committee. “One cannot enter parliament and under oath say you agree to observe the laws of the country, but then encourage other people to grab and occupy the land.”
