The freedom of three robbers were short lived soon after they perpetrated a robbery last night, 7 November 2018, in Wynberg. At around 20:00 seven suspects entered a shop in Ottery Road and threatened the shopkeeper and his staff with firearms.
They fled the scene in a Toyota Avanza with cash, cellular telephones, cold drinks and sweets.
SAPS were quick to respond and the getaway vehicle was spotted which resulted in a high speed car chase. In Athlone the vehicle was found with the stolen goods. Three suspects were apprehended and their four accomplices are now being sought.
Once charged, the suspects are due to make a court appearance in Athlone on a charge of business robbery. The firearms used are yet to be retrieved.
