Residents and family members stood crying outside the Seesig flats in Loevenstein, Bellville this morning Thursday 2019-08-22 after it was discovered that the 32 year old Lynette Volschenk, a resident of the Seesig flats, was murdered.

Her body was found in pieces in black refuse bags in different places around the flat complex. She was described by residents as a quiet and religious person. Residents said that a 23 year old man was taken into Police custody. He stays on the 9th floor whilst Lynette stayed on the 10th floor.

It is suspected that the murder took place Wednesday evening around 1700 when neighbours heard screams. It is not known why nobody investigated at the time. The resident staying under the suspect’s flat heard a banging noise the whole night coming from the suspect’s flat but also did not investigate further.

This morning colleagues of the murdered woman went to look for her when she did not arrive for work and found the 23 year old suspect in the woman’s flat . He had blue gloves on and said he worked there.

Residents said the suspect still had blood on his hands when he was taken away by Police and that a blood trail could be seen from the suspect’s flat to the victim’s flat.

In May of this year the body of a 65 year old man was found in his flat in the same flat complex. He was also a resident. The man’s body was found with a rope tied right around his body. That murder was never solved.
