On 27 February 2018 at about 13:30, the Lansdowne SAPS Crime Prevention Team acted on information regarding a firearm stored at a premise in Aylesbury Place in Wetton.
On the members’ arrival they found a 33 year old woman busy hiding a firearm between clothing in a chest of drawers. The officers asked for the firearms licence and she could not produce it.
A 9mm Norinco Pistol with a serial number and 11 live 9mm rounds were then seized.
The suspect was arrested and will face charges related to the possession of a firearm without a licence and ammunition. The firearm was handed in as an exhibit in court and will also be sent for ballistics testing.
The 33 year old suspect will soon appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on the charges mentioned.
