Members of the West Coast Rural Flying Squad arrested four adult males for the possession of flora without documentation on 25 October 2022, on the N7 in Citrusdal.

The members received information about a blue Ford Fiesta travelling from Clanwilliam with indigenous plants in the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and searched and three bags containing 3491 indigenous plants were found in the vehicle.

In an unrelated matter Gansbaai police arrested an 18-year-old suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm on Tuesday morning 25 October 2022.

The members received a complaint from a school in the area of a student who is in possession of a firearm. The student was searched and a 9mm pistol was confiscated.

The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Hermanus and Citrusdal Magistrates courts.

Members of the Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 32-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on 26 October 2022, at about 06:15 in St Alexander Circle, Lavender Hill.

The members were busy with stop and search operations in the area when they saw the suspect who tried to run away when he saw the police vehicle approaching. The suspect was apprehended and searched and a 9mm pistol with ammunition was found in his possession.

Once charged the suspect is due to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
